James Johnson IV Named Head Coach of Acro-Airs
TAKOMA PARK, MD - Washington Adventist University Director of Athletics Jered Lyons has named James Johnson IV as the head coach of the WAU acro-airs team.
"I am super elated to be back on campus in a new capacity as Head Coach of the Acro-Airs," said Johnson. "As an alumni of the University as well as the program, it's a full circle moment for me, and I'm very proud to step into this new journey."
Johnson graduated from WAU in 2016, where he competed on the Acro-Airs team. After graduation, Johnson joined the Washington Wizards Dancers, where he choreographed and freestyled routines at all Washington Wizards home games in front of thousands of fans. He is also a Washington Wizards brand ambassador, attending and performing at numerous outside charity, celebrity, regional, and local events.
Over his 14-year career, Johnson has developed a skill
set directly relevant to the Acro-Airs Coach role, including experience as an Acro-Air credentialed in stunting and tumbling by USASF and relationship management. Overall, Johnson has consistently demonstrated attention to detail and leadership abilities in every aspect in his previous position as a cheer coach at Dream
Allstars,

"He has been a valued member of the Acro-Airs program and has stayed current within the Acrobatics space. He is passionate about the sport and developing our student-athletes to be their best. Coach James is connected to this area and has the work ethic to be a successful acrobatics coach."
Johnson has a true passion for the team that he is excited to convey in her inaugural season at Washington Adventist University.
