Bio

Delonte Bruce, a Baltimore native raised in Columbia, MD, was the interim head coach of Washington Adventist University's Acro-Airs team in 2024. As the eldest of six siblings, Delonte's passion for acrobatics began in high school at Spencerville Adventist Academy, where he first developed his love for the sport.

He has been a vital part of the Acro-Airs program for the past six years, serving as a team captain for two years before transitioning into coaching. Delonte has spent the last three years as an assistant coach, two of which were under former head coach Ben Johnson. In addition to his work with the Acro-Airs, Delonte has had brief stints at EAGC and currently coaches at Cheer Extreme DMV.

Delonte's coaching philosophy is deeply influenced by his favorite Bible verse, Matthew 22:34-40, as he strives to emulate the love of Christ in his interactions with athletes. His competitive spirit extends beyond the gym—he enjoys board games, sports, and video games. Outside of coaching, Delonte loves writing stories and poems, discovering new music, cooking, and portrait photography, and always looking for opportunities to learn and grow.
