WAU Women’s Basketball Falls to Christendom College on the Road

Front Royal, VA – The Washington Adventist University (WAU) women's basketball team faced a tough road test on Wednesday, December 4, falling to Christendom College 82-45 in Front Royal, Virginia.

Christendom set the tone early, employing a strong defensive effort and a fast-paced offense that left the Shock trailing by 13 points after the first quarter. Despite the deficit, WAU's Amani Ball and Tye Queen led the charge with 10 points each, showing determination and leadership throughout the game.

WAU found their stride in the second quarter with improved ball movement and defensive stops, but Christendom's shooting efficiency and dominance in the paint widened the gap to 17 points going into halftime.

In the second half, the Shock continued to battle, with Melanie Aguilar contributing 8 points. However, Christendom's depth and consistent scoring proved insurmountable leading them to the 82-45 victory.

"Head Coach Mary Minick has built a program brick by brick," said WAU head coach Jered Lyons. "There is a reason that they won a USCAA National Championship last season. She has done it right. Tonight was a tough loss, but the journey is long. We acknowledge that tonight wasn't our night. Back to work, we go."

The Shock will return home for their most anticipated matchup hosting Oakwood University for WAU's 2024 Homecoming on Saturday, December 7 in Takoma Park, MD.
